My idea was to have illustrations on the walls that kids could colour in and then I would animate their drawings onto the illustrated scene.
My idea was well recieved so all that was left to do was to apply fior the funding and wait to see if we would get it, Unfortunately the amount we asked for was too low to be accepted but Bragela managed to get the funding through the council for me so all was well again.
I realised I couldn't have illustrations on the wall so I decided to change my idea to have a box playhouse of some sort that the kids could draw on. I had issues with joiners and also with the fact that the installation would need to be put away for story tellers to come in during the event. The the idea hit me.....TEEPEES! They were light and safe and easy to put away, perfect!
I set about making my designs for each side of the teepees and my drawing style I would use.
I also wanted to have some projections on the teepees so I made a little mock video of what they might look like.
I also made a video of different things to loop as the projection video.
I also began to make a poster to advertise the exhibition
It was a pretty big job but I was chuffed with the final result.
I also made some little tags with links to the website where the animated sequences would be, with some illustrations that my friend Rosalind Sanderson did for me.
Finally I was able to install and draw the illustrations onto the teepees!
After a couple days of being open the teepees filled up nicely! all that was left was to add the animations. All of which can be seen in this promotional video.
