Animated reality

Initially I felt very confident about this project. I found that my partner and i had a similar idea of what we wanted to make and thought the project would g very smoothly. I soon realised that our only idea was actually what the film would look like and we didn't really have any strong narrative or direction for where our film was going. we decided to explore augmented reality, questioning why people chose to change their lives with social media and narcotics. but now that I think back I think this was mainly because we thought we could have lots of cool visuals to it and we weren't really thinking of the integrity of the story. Anyway, I went out and got some footage of Cowgate and also of inside a nightclub.

The footage I got was okay but I kind of thought, "what are we actually saying with this?"

later on we did some interviews with people asking them about their experience with social media. we interviewed a rather eccentric man and some of our friends. The did say some good things but I just felt this idea had been done so many times before and just wasnt that interesting.
later on it came about that I would have to work on the project myself. I decided i would interview my granny. At first I was just going on the social media idea and  asking what it was like for the older generation to interact with social media but then  just thought. This is my granny and this is now my film so I'm just going to do what I want and what I enjoy. I dont care if the idea isnt cutting edge or unique but it is personal to me and film i want to make so surely it'll be better than something that my heart just isn't in. My granny told so many funny stories, with some help from Alan I finally chose one to continue with and decided to make a narrated animated film.

I began working on getting the recording of the story perfect and worked on my animatic, unfortunately I don't have my first draft of the animatic as i changed it in premiere to the final draft and forgot to save a copy. however here is my final animative. I also made some tests of what the animation could look like, these scenes do need some tweaking but I like the general look and think it will translate well into my final film.
